n the early stages, you call your answering machine, even though its too late to return any calls, hoping to hear her voice, so that you can now begin agonizing over being unable to return the call, how the agony seems so profound, howin truthit is profound, how love is the greatest narrative, how sad it is that we too often let the profound become lost, how we forget the giddiness of sharing the stories of our irrational behavior concerning our soon-to-be (i.e. professed, finally) loved one, how that giddiness in metafiction fuels the erotics, the longing, the desperate pull toward a body too recently, reluctantly, abandoned.
