[20-Consonant Poetry is a new poetic form based on Twelve Tone music. In 20-Consonant Poetry, each consonant must be used exactly once before any of them can be used again. Vowels are usually used freely and, except in the case of 21-Consonant Poetry, 'Y' is usually considered to be a vowel. Of the many techniques used to make the form easier, the most frequently used is the Mississippi Rule, in which a consonant may be repeated as many times as desirable, provided no other consonant intervenes. In the navigation bar on the left, for example, the consonant 'M' is repeated in "Home" and "Email." Of the techniques used to make the task more difficult, one of the most common is the retrograde, in which, after all the consonants are used, the sequence in which they were used is repeated backwards. On the left, the link called "poetry / art" hints at the beginning of a retrograde. Very little of this site is in normal English, but the essays provide more information.]
