t Brown,
the Unknown resolved to save hypertext from
the academy: too much scrutiny inevitably makes one want
to scatter to dark corners to escape the light, to avoid being the object
of obsessive voyeurism, which scholarship inevitably
tends to emulate. How difficult it becomes to be watched while working:
one begins watching oneself being watched and while watching the watching
one loses the work or it becomes about all the
watching going on. Its a pyramid scheme, and not enough audience
to go around. Who will watch the watchers?
