The Twelve Steps of The Unknown

1. We admitted we were powerless to stop writing scenes, that our hypertext had become unmanageable.

2. Came to believe that an Editing greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

3. Made a decision to stop writing and turn our hypertext over to the vicissitudes of the Web as we understood it.

4. Made a searching and fearless proofreading of the hypertext.

5. Admitted to ourselves and to another hypertext author the exact nature of the hypertext's failings.

6. Were entirely ready to have the Editing remove all these defects in the hypertext.

7. Humbly asked the Editing to remove the hypertext's shortcomings.

8. Made a list of all persons we had defamed in the hypertext, and became willing to make certain all their names appeared in the somanypeople.htm file.

9. Listed the names of all such persons whenever possible, except when to do so would open us up to serious legal difficulties.

10. Continued to proofread the hypertext and when we found an error promptly fixed it.

11. Sought through proofing and spell-checking to improve our ability to refrain from writing more scenes, praying only for more Editing and the power to carry out its demands.

12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to forget the hypertext entirely and give up any inclination to ever begin writing scenes again.
