Newspoem 2 April 2007

Democrats decisive as pressure grows legislative
Critical stage sessions loom to show results

With lawmakers
tipping
the need
in the space of

control, the
Iraq war
to an uncertain fate

the federal budget
each leader's
war debate

but few raising
war debate

time and
stalemate and
direction to
win control
results

action won't
stretch from
congress-and
his presidency

speaker Nancy Pelosi
what she had learned
reflects her growing
all, I really do, she said
it's so much but
a surprise to me
but it's interesting

but even now
the minimum wage bill will
say
promise and danger
as Mr. Bush was blasting
off the Senate floor
on immigration reform

hanging over both
attacks on their calling
to directly engage
needs
of the troops

Ms. Pelosi's
Syria, after
Israeli
dovetails

the White House
continued
public rebuking
for
doing so
revealed
frustration

Defense Secretary
candor
won
such
alienating
congresses

on the
respect of war

more
same

Senator
decorated

the Senate
is dismayed by
this importance

confrontational posture

for Democrats
two risks: first, that
gets done; second, that
work together

there are hopes for
Wall Street
to tighten

there are
moments
for some
framework

but the
scheduled
president
for passage

but the
immigration
could be
now scheduled
to finish
the right to
undercut

my theory is
education
after
foster care

in Ms. Pelosi's
own tempo
she said
minimum-wage
agitated-looking
Chairman
stepped in quickly:

we
will get done
