HOUSES VANDALIZED

Normal -- As the caption explains, it is ironic that the vandals made an error: they painted the pink triangle rightside up when it is supposed to be upside down. But the caption had a typo: substituting "blacks" for "black". But the graffiti was erased later that day by concerned members of the Advocacy Council for Human Rights. But later that day it was on the front page. But the story suggested the vandals were bad people, bad artists, and violent. But the graffiti with the error was on the Mayor's garage door on the front page with the typo which noted that it is ironic that the vandalism occurred on the weekend of the holiday marking the birthday of Martin Luther King who promoted social justice through nonviolent means. But the proposed amendment to the city's human relations ordinance that would extend civil rights protection to bisexuals and homosexuals has not yet been passed.
