NEWSPOEM 13 DECEMBER 1995 Local Politician Protects Major Corporate Interests Did you hear the latest about State Representative Tim Johnson? Seems he helped overturn a local law so that a mall could be built. What? A mall. In Tuscola, I think. Oh, I don't know. I don't know, some law. The law said that special state funds could not be used to build a mall on undeveloped land unless a certain number of years had elapsed since the land was last cultivated. I don't know, some fund. It's to protect the interests of small businesses in downtown areas. It's about to get cut. Anyway, the thing was, on the site in Tuscola there were still crops growing. Huh? I don't know how I feel about it. What are you asking me for? I don't know if I voted for him or not. The thing is: he's getting things done. No, I can't afford to go to a mall. No, I doubt they'd hire me. I'm not, you know, white. Whose interest is it in? Well, his, obviously. Point is, he's getting things done. Wish I could do that. I wish I had that kind of... money, you know? Anyway if he ever leaves me a 35 cent tip again I'll clean the entire restaurant using his stupid kids as a vacuum. The ugly bastard. |
