Sometimes Change is Good

John Searles

Sometimes
I often wonder why
why do so many tears often drop
why do so many children always have to die
why doesn’t the violence ever stop?

Sometimes
I sit back and think
about poverty
violence
and the hood
about the drugs
girls
and drinks
about the small children
who learn this life is good.

Sometimes I wonder
what does it take for us to open our eyes
what it is going to take for us to see
to realize
everytime a child cries
it slowly destroys a part inside
you and me.

I
want the tears too stop falling
I want my children to grow healthy
and strong.
to answer the Lord’s calling
to do what’s right and
not wrong.

I
am making a change in my life.
I
want to go home to my family and
my baby girl
to find me a good
honest
wife
and to help make this a
better world.
