Spineless Books Mail Art: Eating DeLillo

Eating Delillo.

Eating DeLillo is dedicated to Nick because it grew out of a joke we made when he was visiting me to do Trade Names. The process of assembling the mailing was a struggle between order and chaos. Eating DeLillo was published on 50 sheets of day-glo paper in a frenzied mailing of 50 numbered day-glo envelopes corresponding to the 50 states on the states stamps in alphabetic order. Some of the numbered copies were sent on official Spineless Books letterhead instead of day-glo paper. Some were sent on official letterhead from various organizations not affiliated with Spineless Books, including the Gainesville Civic Media Center and The Royal Alaka'i, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. I wanted it to appear as though the character in the story had sent the mailing. They were all mailed on 19 November 2002, the night of the Perseid meteor shower and a nearly full moon. The text of Eating DeLillo is not available on the web but has since been published in Like Water Burning.
